Mindful Moments for Children
Amelia will be starting a new after school club at Tavernspite School, for children in years 4, 5 and 6.
 

This is an after school class, and will finish at 4pm.

The course Is a 6 weeks course, during this time the children will cover a range of practices and at the end they will bring a workbook with practices home with them.

Description

Amelia will be starting a new after school club at Tavernspite School, for children in years 4, 5 and 6.
 
The children will learn about
 
Self awareness
 
Mindfulness – Movement, Breath work, Relaxation, Reflection, Connection and the Senses.
 
The science of stress, fear and worry and how they affect the body and mind.
 
How to recognise and manage feelings, fear, worry, anxiety and stress. using a variety of mindfulness techniques. During the 6 weeks they will also develop a workbook to take home, with guides on what they have been learning about. This book will also serve as a journal during the session.
 
These session will be aimed at empowering the children with tools they can use to feel more focused, calmer, and more at ease their body and mind. These tools will also enable them to manage test and exam stress, fear of performing in front of an audience and will generally enable them to feel more at ease both during school time and outside of school.
 
Mindfulness promotes a calm, relaxed body and mind, improves focus and concentration and can be a useful tool to combat worry and anxiety. These practices can also be used to help children get to sleep at night.
 
During the session the children will be using Mindful Moments for Children cards and scripts, these will also be available fo you to purchase for your child, should you wish them to continue these practices at home. Please note they do not need to have their own pack for the class.
 
ABOUT MINDFUL MOMENTS CARDS
The cards offer tools that help quieten the mind and relax the body.
 
The cards are in 5 different sections with
MOVE CARDS – Use Move cards daily, to promote a healthy, strong and relaxed body.
BREATH CARD – Use Breathe cards daily, to promote a relaxed body, a balanced nervous system, a happy tummy and concentration.
REST CARDS -Use rest cards daily, to promote stillness, rest and reflection.
CONNECT CARDS – Use connect cards regularly, to promote a sense of wellbeing, belonging and community.
SENSE CARDS – Use Sense cards regularly, to promote mindfulness, awareness and focus.
