Yoga and Mindfulness for Children

Helping Little Ones Feel Calm, Confident and Connected

How can yoga support children?

Children today are growing up in an overstimulating world—often without the tools to slow down, tune in, and process big emotions.

Many parents and caregivers notice:

  • Restlessness or difficulty focusing

  • Emotional outbursts or sensitivity

  • Trouble sleeping

  • Anxiety around separation, new experiences or transitions

  • A need for calming routines

These behaviours often signal that a child’s nervous system is overloaded—and they need gentle, playful tools to feel safe, supported and steady again.

What I Offer

Through age-appropriate yoga, mindfulness and relaxation, I help children:

  • Move their bodies to release tension and energy

  • Use breath and sensory-based techniques to calm their minds

  • Build self-awareness and emotional resilience

  • Develop tools they can use at home, school or in daily life

  • Feel seen, heard and safe

Sessions are fun, trauma-sensitive, and responsive to each child’s needs—whether 1-1, in small groups, or family sessions.

What a children’s yoga class might look like

All of my classes are thoughtfully shaped around the unique needs of each child. Children are encouraged to move freely in ways that feel right and natural to them—there’s no pressure to perform, only gentle guidance to explore, connect, and be themselves.

Sessions are inclusive, non-competitive, and welcoming to all children, including those with additional needs. Every child is invited to take part, but it’s equally okay to rest and return when they feel ready. The atmosphere is calm, accepting, and nurturing—supporting children to feel safe, regulated, and in tune with their emotions.

Each session weaves together movement and yoga postures, breathing techniques, creative meditations, and moments of stillness. We explore partner and trust-based games, story-based yoga, positive affirmations, and daily gratitude—practices that gently build confidence, presence and emotional harmony.

With a background in supporting children with a wide range of additional needs, I adapt my approach to honour every child’s pace and personality—making sure they feel seen, heard and supported throughout.

Mindfulness Cards for children

Over the years, I’ve carefully developed these mindfulness cards to support children and teens in a way that’s accessible, engaging, and truly works.
Whether I’m in a classroom, a 1:1 session, or leading a teacher training, I found myself reaching for the same words, the same breath cues, the same simple tools. So I gathered them—into something you can hold in your hand.
These cards are designed for:
💛 Children and teens navigating big emotions
💛 Teachers who want to weave mindfulness into the school day
💛 Parents looking for calm-at-the-ready tools
💛 Anyone who wants to make mindfulness part of everyday life
They’re beautifully simple, but grounded in what truly helps young people feel safe, seen, and steady.
